Happy Hour was created to serve the individual needs of children that have difficulty socializing appropriately with their peers. The founders of Happy Hour found a great need for a place in which children of all abilities could get the individualized attention they need within a group setting to work on these skills.

The OT Department at Happy Hour for Kids is committed to serving children of all ages with varying levels of abilities . Common areas of need include fine motor skill development, visual motor or visual perceptual deficits, muscle weakness (low tone), and sensory processing or sensory integration difficulties. All therapy is provided by knowledgeable, caring therapists with years of pediatric experience. Treatment takes place in a brand new 600 square foot state of the art sensory gym that provides children with an ideal environment to achieve their highest potential.

The Speech and Language department at Happy Hour 4 Kids is also dedicated to serving children of all ages with varying levels of abilities. Common areas of focus are, expressive and receptive language skills, fluency, articulation, voice, and oral motor difficulties. All therapy is provided by knowledgeable, caring and enthusiastic speech and language pathologists with much experience working with the pediatric population.

Pediatric Physical Therapy addresses gross motor skills as they impact a child's functional abilities towards independence. Focus is geared towards aiding a child in achieving age appropriate milestones. Physical therapy address areas of strength, balance, coordination, tone, gait, orthotic and equipment management; as well as functional outcomes such as rolling over, sitting up, walking, running, jumping, and ball play skills.
Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. Because a child's
main medium of expression is play, and not words, play therapy is utilized
to help a child express their thoughts and feelings, as well as to resolve
any social or emotional issues. In play therapy, a therapist will observe
and interact with a child while they play with specifically chosen toys such
as doll houses, school buses, or classrooms. Changes in behavior surface
when the therapist implements treatment involving desensitization and
relearning to help a child become successful. Through the power of play,
either in a group or individual setting, children can explore their emotions
and internalize new techniques, which reduces anxiety and increases
self-esteem.

In home parent training was created for parents that need a
little extra help in the home. As a team, we will assess each
situation and come up with a plan that works for everyone.
We help parents learn how to establish control, implement
structure and create a happy and healthy home environment.

Private SEIT services are provided by a skilled and experienced special education teacher when it is determined that a student needs support in order to successfully navigate their classroom environment. SEIT stands for Special Education Itinerant Teacher, which means a teacher will be assigned to go to school with your child from anywhere from a couple of hours per week to full day coverage depending on the child's needs. The goal of a SEIT is to help the child become successful and independent within their classroom and school environment by helping the child understand and comply with school rules, routines and behavior. SEIT's also assist the child within the the school setting with appropriate socialization, as well as aiding with the academic curriculum.
Special Instruction is provided for children who need additional support with building cognitive and behavioral skills. This service is provided by highly qualified special education teachers in a 1:1 setting.
ABA, Applied Behavior Analysis, is the science of applying experimentally derived principles of behavior to improve socially significant behavior. ABA takes what we know about behavior and uses it to bring about positive change. This service is also provided by teachers with extensive ABA training and experience in a 1:1 setting here at Happy Hour 4 Kids and Manhattan OT.
