Happy Hour was created to serve the individual needs of children that have difficulty socializing appropriately with their peers. The founders of Happy Hour found a great need for a place in which children of all abilities could get the individualized attention they need within a group setting to work on these skills.

The OT Department at Happy Hour for Kids is committed to serving children of all ages with varying levels of abilities . Common areas of need include fine motor skill development, visual motor or visual perceptual deficits, muscle weakness (low tone), and sensory processing or sensory integration difficulties. All therapy is provided by knowledgeable, caring therapists with years of pediatric experience. Treatment takes place in a brand new 600 square foot state of the art sensory gym that provides children with an ideal environment to achieve their highest potential.

Time 2 Sign is a class designed to incorporate American Sign Language (ASL) as another modality of communication. This will aid in the acquisition of positive social interactions and appropriate behaviors. The incorporation of sign language will further enhance communication to those children who experience difficulty in these areas.

Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. Because a child's
main medium of expression is play, and not words, play therapy is utilized
to help a child express their thoughts and feelings, as well as to resolve
any social or emotional issues. In play therapy, a therapist will observe
and interact with a child while they play with specifically chosen toys such
as doll houses, school buses, or classrooms. Changes in behavior surface
when the therapist implements treatment involving desensitization and
relearning to help a child become successful. Through the power of play,
either in a group or individual setting, children can explore their emotions
and internalize new techniques, which reduces anxiety and increases
self-esteem.

In home parent training was created for parents that need a
little extra help in the home. As a team, we will assess each
situation and come up with a plan that works for everyone.
We help parents learn how to establish control, implement
structure and create a happy and healthy home environment.
